Annie emigrated from Puerto Rico to Fitchburg four years ago, leaving a teaching career and everything she knew behind. She dreamed of owning her own family childcare business for years, but despite her best efforts she was unable to reach her goal alone. As hard as she tried to navigate the process herself, she became more and more discouraged and isolated due to lack of resources and facing an exhaustible list of barriers.
Annie joined the Childcare Entrepreneur Steward program in early 2023, determined to keep her dream alive. Despite the many barriers she faced along the way, including landlord opposition and lack of access to linguistically appropriate material. Due to attending the bilingual Childcare Entrepreneur Steward training and working closely with our bilingual coaches, she is now the proud owner of “All Aboard Adventure Station” and is living her dream.

Annie is a proud licensed family child care provider who is a vital part of boosting our local state and national economy, offering linguistically and culturally responsible care. Today she is at full capacity, serving six children and enabling their parents to gain employment.
