ECFS Expands Food Access Through New Partnerships with Hannaford and Ocean State Job Lot

Empower Children for Success (ECFS) is proud to announce two powerful partnerships that are helping to combat food insecurity and support unhoused individuals across North Central Massachusetts.

Since 2023, ECFS has partnered with Hannaford’s Food Rescue Program, receiving between 300–500 pounds of fresh produce three times a week. These donations are distributed to local food pantries and grassroots volunteers who provide meals and supplies to individuals experiencing homelessness. The consistent flow of nutritious food has strengthened ECFS’s outreach efforts and helped meet urgent needs in the community.

In 2025, ECFS joined forces with Ocean State Job Lot’s Feed for Free program, further expanding its food access initiatives. Through this collaboration, ECFS receives regular donations of shelf-stable items and pantry staples, which are also directed to grassroots volunteers and organizations serving unhoused populations.

Together, these partnerships are:

  • Reducing food waste and redirecting it to families and individuals in need.
  • Supporting volunteers who conduct street outreach and meal distribution.
  • Strengthening ECFS’s commitment to equity, dignity, and community care.

“We’re deeply grateful to Hannaford and Ocean State Job Lot for their generosity and shared commitment to uplifting our most vulnerable neighbors,” said Marites MacLean, President at ECFS. “These partnerships allow us to extend our reach and ensure that no child or adult goes hungry.”

ECFS continues to seek collaborative solutions to address poverty, hunger, and housing instability. To learn more or get involved, email maritesm@empowerchildrenforsuccess.org.
